You were given the "Beginning of School Year Success Criteria" at the end of our first class. It has tasks on it that are to be completed between now and Thursday, 8/24 (A) or Friday, 8/25 (B).

The two I suggest you complete before next class are:
  • Finish responding to the questions you'd like to answer on the 1st Day Student Survey. You can turn it in at the beginning of the next class.
  • Give your parents/guardians/support people the Day 1 Family Letter on pg. 3 of your blue packet. Read it together and sign the bottom of the backside. Show Sra. the signature at the beginning of the next class. 
  • Feel free to start completing other tasks on the list if you have the time!

The one task I suggest you complete before next class  is to get a binder, 5 dividers & paper & bring to class every day.

  • Review the Spanish 1 Course Syllabus with a parent/guardian/support person at home.
  • Have the same adult complete the Spanish 1 Support Person Google Form. 
  • Make sure you and your support people have signed up to communicate via the Remind app.​

A-day students: I'm sorry I'm out today! Please listen to the directions from the sub & use these resources to do your last reading practice before the evidence on Tuesday. 

Step 1: Read & annotate independently. 

Step 2: Read & try to understand the comprehension questions. Try to answer them in pairs. 

  • There are two types of questions: comprehension and vocabulary.
  • Question 1 is a comprehension question. Circle the correct answer and then quote example(s) from the text that prove your answer is right.
  • Question 2 is a vocabulary question. You'll answer these in English and explain your thinking. Why do you think the translation of the word or phrase is correct? Context clues? Cognates? Process of elimination? Backgroud knowledge? Explain your thoughts. 

Step 3: Check your answers. 

Step 4: Spend the rest of class reviewing vocab & structures & using the ideas in the doc. below.

  • If you did not really study or prepare for the evidence ahead of time (i.e. are missing practice assignments from the unit and you did not use the document below before taking the test, that is your starting point. Do that work now to start improving your understanding before even getting the test back. 
  • If you did study and did use the document & strategies below and felt confident before you took the quiz but you feel really not confident about what you did today after taking the quiz, make a plan to come in for tutoring next week. 
Our next, and final, evidence of Unit 1 will be speaking! Practicing starting, maintaining & ending conversations every day will really help you feel confident on that!
